About

One of the biggest FREE performing arts showcases in the country returns March 9, 2026! The ExxonMobil Theater District Open House invites one and all to experience live theater, music, dance and hands-on activities in the world-renowned Houston Theater District.

Houston Ballet is proud to open its doors for a free, family-friendly day of performances, behind-the-scenes access, and interactive and educational activities designed for all ages and abilities.

Guests will enjoy sensory-friendly performances by Houston Ballet II (the junior company), creative movement classes for young dancers, behind-the-scenes tours of the Wortham Theater Center with Sylvia sets onstage, and a rare look inside the Houston Ballet’s Margaret Alkek Williams Center for Dance. The day also offers opportunities to learn about Houston Ballet Academy’s preschool programs and experience the training environment where future professional dancers are shaped.

Guided by Houston Ballet’s mission to inspire a lifelong love of dance through performance, education, and community engagement, all activities are intentionally designed to be inclusive and accessible. Quiet rooms, sensory-friendly programming, and welcoming spaces ensure everyone can experience Houston Ballet in a way that feels comfortable, inspiring, and joyful.

Whether attending ballet for the first time or returning as a longtime supporter, Theater District Open House is an invitation to experience one of the country’s leading ballet institutions—free, behind the scenes, and for all.

Houston Ballet Center for Dance is located in downtown Houston at 601 Preston Street.
