Adult Program Policies & Procedures

How to register?
Registration is available exclusively through Mindbody. All students must create a free account through the Houston Ballet Academy Mindbody Website in order to view up to date class schedules and book class sessions. 

Students with existing Mind Body accounts must still register through the HBA Mindbody website. We recommend using a web browser to do so. Please note all students must input their birthday to their profile in order to register for class.

Pre-registration is required for all classes. Walk-up registration is not available.

Waitlists
Once a class reaches its capacity, students can sign up to be on the waitlist. You will be notified if you move off the list. If the waitlist is full, you will not be able to register for the class at all.

Discounts/ Promocodes
Promo codes can only be used on the HB Academy Mindbody website at checkout once you have added your class. Promo codes cannot used in the Mindbody App.

If you have a class card or a previous credit attached to your HB Academy Mind Body account, the system will first use those credits before applying the promo code toward your enrollment. Please email hbacademy@houstonballet.org for further assistance. 

Adult students should wear comfortable clothing that they can move in, such as tights, t-shirts, leggings, leotards, etc. Flat Ballet shoes must be worn in all classes.

We recommend that hair should be pulled away from your face and that no jewelry should not be worn in class. Students may bring a small bag and a water bottle with a secure lid into class.

For the Adult Pointe series, dancers will need pointe shoes. These can be found at Dance Trends, or any other Dancewear store. Please wait to sew your elastics/ribbons until you have your shoe evaluation the first week of class.

Parking
There is no parking available at the Center for Dance. 

There are several public lots available in the surrounding area. The closest garage can be found at the Lyric Center Garage (located across the street from the Center for Dance). Our receptionist can validate your ticket for a discount off your first hour of parking.

What to do when you arrive?
Upon arriving at the Center for Dance, all adult students must check in with the receptionist before entering the lobby. Students should not enter a studio or go upstairs until they are instructed to do so by HB staff.

Studios may be available for warm up prior to class when space and staff are available. Students can always use the lobby for stretching and warming up.

Late Procedures
Houston Ballet Academy does not recommend joining class if you are over 15 minutes late. If you still would like to join class, please complete a thorough warm up.

Class Cancellations (HB)
Please note that class schedules are set at the discretion of the Houston Ballet Academy and are subject to teacher availability. In the event a class must be canceled, Houston Ballet staff will notify you via Mindbody no later than 2 hours prior to the class beginning. Your class pass will be placed back onto your account to be used at a later date.

Canceling After Registration (Students)
Drop-in classes can be cancelled before the class start time for a credit back to your Mindbody account. To cancel a class, please log into Mindbody and see your class schedule.

Please note that our Mindbody cancellation policy does not apply to any Multi-Week Session. If you feel you need to cancel the entire multi-week session, you may do so by emailing hbacademy@houstonballet.org before the start of the session. You will only receive a credit for a future multi-week session in Mindbody. There is no partial credit given for withdrawals after the first class of a session.

Refunds
Refunds or transfers of registration are not available for adult classes.
Class credits or refunds will not be issued for classes that are missed or cancelled after the start of class time.

Photography and video recording are prohibited inside any Center for Dance studio.

While in the studios, the use of the piano or studio electronics is strictly prohibited.

Please let your instructor or academy staff know if a studio item needs to be replenished. 

Once your class is over, please make sure to promptly exit the studio and make your way to the lobby.

Locker rooms are for pre professional students. Adult students are welcome to use the restrooms and water fountains on the first and third floors.
